Best of Durham - Pt. 9
Located in northern North Carolina, Durham is the fourth largest city in the state. It is the home of Duke University, one of the nation's oldest universities. It is also the location of the Nasher Museum of Art and the world-class performing arts theater, the Durham Performing Arts Center.
The city of Durham has undergone a cultural renaissance, especially in the downtown district. The old brick factory buildings have been transformed into trendy restaurants and theaters. The city is also home to a variety of outdoor facilities, such as public pools, playgrounds, splash pads, and city lakes.
A growing number of people are moving to the Durham area for economic and quality-of-life reasons. In addition, Durham is home to a large, middle-class African-American population. These residents have a strong political voice in the city and are often a part of the coalition that has shaped Durham politics since the early 1980s. Check it out here.
As a city, Durham has become increasingly popular for its art, architecture, and technology. Durham also has a lively music scene, ranging from jazz to punk to rock. Some popular musicians in the area include Iron & Wine, Mount Moria, Hiss Golden Messenger, and Superchunk.

Downtown Durham has recently undergone a cultural renaissance, including the building of a performing arts center and a sports complex. The city is also promoting redevelopment of former tobacco districts. In the early twentieth century, the tobacco industry dominated the economy of Durham. It was an easy crop to grow, and many black farmers searched for an easy crop to plant.
Durham has a mild climate, with an average high temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit nine months out of the year. The city also receives abundant precipitation. Snow is common in winter, but it typically melts within a day. Next blog post.
Durham is the home of Duke University and the Nasher Museum of Art. The Carolina Theatre, an old glam movie theater, is also located in the city. Other popular venues include the PNC Arena and the Durham Bulls minor league baseball team. In addition, many universities hold games year-round.

The city of Durham has a rich history, and its revitalization is an excellent example of a community coming together to honor that history. The city has partnered with developers from around the world to help bring new life to old buildings and neighborhoods.
