ABOUT The Practice 

Morrisville Counseling and Consulting is here to meet your mental health and therapy needs. It's an honor and privilege for us to be a part of your journey in life. MCC started in 2017 and has since grown into a small group practice in order to serve the greater community. In addition to providing outstanding mental health and therapy services, our team will work with the rest of your medical care team (psychiatrist, primary care doctor, dietician, couples counselor, etc.) to ensure complete wrap-around care.  We value continuing education at MCC and make a point that all our therapists stay at the cutting edge of mental health care and treatment options to ensure you're receiving the best care to date.

Heather Steele, MS, CPC, LCAS, LCMHC is a licensed psychotherapist, substance abuse specialist, and certified professional coach in Durham, NC and has helped thousands of clients over the past decade. 

 

Heather is highly trained in somatic approaches and applies her exceptional knowledge of neuroscience to therapy sessions. She is able to explain to her clients how the nervous system and brain function under physical and emotional stress, how this impacts mental health, and how to heal from this in therapy. 

She is also trained in evidence-based research modalities for therapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and person-centered approaches. 

 

Heather has worked in a variety of settings over the years including private practice, a military base, community-based mental health, substance abuse clinics, a drug treatment court program, and local mental health clinics. 

Heather attended East Carolina University where she completed her Masters of Science in Substance Abuse and Clinical Counseling. She also completed her Bachelors of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling with a minor in Substance Abuse from East Carolina University.

Jamie Kleiner, MA, LCMHCA

Jamie's goal is to help you reflect on key behaviors and current challenges, to help you find the links between past and present experiences, and to help equip you with the tools you need to improve your situation and relationships.

 

As a counselor, Jamie believes in the inherent dignity of all people and the right to quality mental health services.

Jamie has a passion for working with the LGBTQ+, racial justice, and body positivity communities. 

Her approach to counseling adults is a collaborative relationship founded on empathy, authenticity, and non-judgment. In establishing this type of relationship, Jamie will help you recognize your strengths and natural abilities to overcome anxiety, depression, attachment-related issues, trauma, and life transitions.

Jamie can work with you to help you reconnect to yourself, the people you love, and create the life you hope for.

Jamie graduated at the top of her class from Xavier University with a Masters of Art in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She completed her undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors of Art in Psychology.

Seth Edwards, MSW, LCASA, LCSWA

Therapist *CURRENT OPENINGS FOR AUG. 2022

Seth is a social worker and substance abuse specialist working in Durham, NC. 

 

Psychotherapy is a powerful space to find hope and work towards a more gratifying life.

Seth helps clients identify the root of their problems, and the behaviors or thoughts that maintain the problem. Through processing, finding new ways of thinking, and skill-building, you will be prepared to tackle what holds you back.

 

Seth is a gentle, non-judgmental, and patient therapist. He hopes you will leave sessions feeling empowered, validated, and optimistic. Change can be messy, but he is committed to being there for you while you take on the challenging aspects of therapy.

 

Seth affirms all identities. He has experience working with clients in the LGBTQ+, gender non-conforming, polyamorous, BIPOC, and HIV+ communities. He also welcomes clients of all spiritual and religious paths.  

 

Seth has training in an array of modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Mindfulness-based approaches, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. He has experience providing services in a variety of settings including a community-based mental health and substance use agency, hospital, and nonprofit service agencies.

 

Seth graduated with a Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Katelyn Becker, MA, LMFT 

Therapist *IMMEDIATE OPENINGS FOR AUG. 2022

Katelyn Becker, MA, LMFT is a licensed psychotherapist in Durham, NC and has helped many clients over the years.

 

Katelyn is trained in eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which she can incorporate into various styles of therapy. Katelyn typically practices trauma-informed cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) when working with individuals and practices trauma-informed emotionally-focused therapy (EFT) and structural family therapy when working with couples and families.

Katelyn has worked in a variety of settings over the years including private practice, a residential treatment center for women with eating disorders, a partial hospitalization program for women with eating disorders, and local mental health agencies performing Family-Centered Treatment (FCT) and School-Based Therapy.

 

Katelyn attended Appalachian State University where she completed her Masters of Art in Marriage and Family Therapy. She also completed her Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a minor in Music from Campbell University.

FAQ

How do I book a session?

To book a session please fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page for a free 10 to 15 minute phone consultation. During this consultation we will ask about your current situation and concerns, and help you book your initial appointment. 

*WE ARE CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS FOR APPOINTMENTS both in-person and virtually.

What insurance are you in-network with?

We are in-network BCBS PPO, Blue Value, and BCBS State Health Plan.  

 

Please be sure to check with your insurance that it covers mental health counseling and if you have a deductible. If you need help navigating this, please reach out to us.

 

Remember you can use your health savings account card to cover the cost of sessions including any co-pays and/or deductible. 

What are the self-pay rates?

Initial Intake Session: $170

All other sessions: $160 

*A small number of sliding scale spots are available 

Where is your office located?

The Morrisville Counseling office is conveniently located right off I-40 and is accessible to clients in Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Apex, and Morrisville areas. Our address is: 4819 Emperor Blvd. Durham, NC 27703. Sessions are by appointment only. 

Do you offer telehealth?

Morrisville Counseling offers distant counseling to clients via a HIPPA-approved video conferencing system. This is a great way to make therapy accessible to all. *Telehealth is not covered by all insurance companies or particular plans.
