Kidzu Children's Museum
Located Inside University Place Mall, 201 S Estes Dr, Chapel Hill, NC 27514, United States, Kidzu Children's Museum is a fun, interactive place for young children to learn, play, and have fun. With over eight hundred square feet of space, this children's museum offers hands-on exhibits, play-centered activities, and daily programs. Children ages 0 through 8 are welcomed to visit, and the museum offers a variety of membership options. Kidzu also offers free admission on Sundays.
Similar to the next blog post, this is a favorite destination for kids of all ages. And even parents find themselves having fun and learning new things.
Kidzu is the brainchild of Melanie Kidzu, who decided to open the museum after studying the educational philosophy of Reggio Emilia, an Italian city known for its educational pedagogy. She consulted with local experts and artisans to develop a children's museum with unique, interactive exhibits and hands-on activities. Kidzu is a private, non-profit museum dedicated to inspiring children and adults through creative play. The staff studied local educational practices and developed a community-based program with an emphasis on early childhood education. The museum was originally established in a storefront on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, and it soon outgrew its small space. In 2015, the museum moved to a larger space at University Place. In addition to providing children with hands-on learning experiences, the museum also serves as a community gathering space. Its programs are designed to encourage children and their parents to explore emerging literacy, arts, and STEM.
The museum features three play areas, each with their own unique theme. The Discovery Kingdom is a multi-sensory area with a farm-to-fork area, a spin zone, a build guild, and a spice wall. The Forest Theater is for drama-prone children, and the Book Nook features puzzles, books, and puppet theater. The Makery offers an area for young makers to create and play. Lastly, there is an immense indoor treehouse. The museum serves up to 90,000 visitors annually. The museum is open six days a week, and admission is free on Sundays. Kidzu also offers pay-what-you-can admission on the first Sunday of every month. Several membership options are also available, including a season membership. You can also enjoy reciprocal admission to over 150 children's museums around the world.
This is a great place for kids to learn about many different things and build up their self-esteem. All good things to contribute to good mental health. If you or someone is struggling with mental health issues contact our team.
Kidzu is committed to inspiring children through play, and the museum offers a wide range of activities for children ages 0 to tweens. There is an outdoor learning garden, a large-scale climbing wall, a dedicated makerspace, and daily programs. The museum is also open on weekends and holidays, and is located near many area attractions. The museum is also located near Gimghoul Castle, which is a popular tourist destination in Chapel Hill.
Kidzu offers a variety of membership options to meet the needs of every family. Children ages 0-8 can enjoy the museum without charge, and families can choose from seasonal or full-year memberships. There are also a variety of membership options for adults. In addition to the museum, Kidzu also offers educational programs and community events. Parents can find information on a wide range of topics, including racial equity, health and wellness, and inclusion.
