Healing Begins Here: The Power of Treatment

When you choose to seek treatment for an eating disorder, you're opening the door to numerous benefits. At MCC, our treatment programs are designed to offer:

  • Restored Health: Nutritional rehabilitation to restore physical health and correct imbalances.

  • Improved Self-Esteem: Counseling to help rebuild a positive body image and self-confidence.

  • Lasting Recovery: Skills and strategies to manage emotions and maintain recovery long-term.

Eating Disorder Treatment  Techniques and Modalities

Our approach includes several key psychotherapy techniques known for their effectiveness in treating eating disorders:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): This therapy helps you identify and change negative thinking patterns and behaviors that contribute to your eating disorder. It involves setting goals, monitoring eating behaviors, and addressing distorted beliefs about weight and body image.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Originally developed for borderline personality disorder, DBT has proven effective for treating eating disorders, particularly for those who experience intense emotions. It focuses on teaching skills to cope with stress, regulate emotions, and improve relationships.

  • Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT): IPT is often used to address issues in personal relationships that may be contributing to or maintaining the eating disorder. It helps improve communication skills and increase social support, which is vital for recovery.

  • Family-Based Therapy (FBT): Particularly effective for adolescents with eating disorders, FBT involves the family as an essential part of treatment. Families learn how to support their loved one, which can help in normalizing eating behaviors and restoring weight.
