Individual Therapy Morrisville: Support for Men, Women, LGBTQ+, and Veterans

Sometimes you just need someone to talk to. Someone who isn't your partner, your family, or your friends. Someone who can listen without judgment and help you figure out what's going on inside.

That's what individual therapy is for.

Across Morrisville, Cary, Raleigh, Durham, and Apex, people are dealing with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, identity questions, and the weight of experiences they've never fully processed.

Some have been pushing through for years. Others just hit a wall and realized something has to change.

Whatever brought you here, you deserve support that fits who you are—not a one-size-fits-all approach that ignores your unique experience.

At Morrisville Counseling and Consulting, we offer individual therapy for adults with therapists who understand the specific challenges faced by men, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and veterans.

Men's Therapist – A Space to Be Honest

Most men weren't taught to talk about their feelings. You learned to push through. Handle it. Figure it out on your own.

But not everything can—or should—be handled solo.

You might be experiencing:

  • Anger that flares up over small things

  • Feeling disconnected from your partner or kids

  • Pressure to provide, perform, and never show weakness

  • Stress from work that you can't turn off

  • Loneliness even when you're surrounded by people

Working with a men's therapist helps you:

  • Talk openly without being judged or told to "man up"

  • Understand what's driving your anger, stress, or shutdown

  • Reconnect with your partner and family

  • Build emotional tools you were never taught

  • Feel like yourself again instead of just going through the motions

Men's mental health is finally getting the attention it deserves.

More men in the Triangle are realizing that therapy isn't weakness—it's how you stop the cycle before it costs you your relationships, your health, or your sense of self.

Therapist for Women –
Support for Every Stage of Life

Women face unique pressures—at work, at home, in relationships, and in their own bodies.

And sometimes those pressures pile up faster than you can process them.

You might be struggling with:

  • Anxiety that won't quiet down no matter what you try

  • Feeling overwhelmed by responsibilities that never end

  • Relationship patterns that keep repeating

  • Life transitions like pregnancy, postpartum, divorce, or menopause

  • Pressure to be everything to everyone while losing yourself

Therapy for women helps you:

  • Process emotions without guilt or judgment

  • Set boundaries that protect your energy

  • Work through relationship issues and family dynamics

  • Get support during major life transitions

  • Reconnect with who you are outside of your roles

Whether you're a new mom in Cary struggling with postpartum anxiety, a professional in RTP burning out from workplace stress, or a woman in midlife wondering what's next—therapy gives you space to figure it out.

LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy – Counseling That Gets It

Finding a therapist is hard enough. Finding one who actually understands your experience as an LGBTQ+ person? That's a whole different challenge.

You shouldn't have to educate your therapist. You shouldn't have to wonder if they're secretly judging you. You deserve a space where your identity is affirmed—not treated as a problem to solve.

You might be dealing with:

  • Anxiety or depression tied to discrimination or rejection

  • Family relationships strained by your identity

  • Coming out—or deciding whether to

  • Internalized shame from years of negative messages

  • Navigating relationships and dating as a queer person

LGBTQ+ affirming therapy helps you:

  • Work with a therapist who celebrates your identity

  • Process the impact of homophobia, transphobia, or rejection

  • Build self-acceptance and quiet the inner critic

  • Strengthen relationships with partners, family, or chosen family

  • Address mental health concerns without your identity being pathologized

Our therapists are trained in LGBTQ+ affirming care. That means they understand minority stress, the coming out process, and the unique challenges faced by queer and trans individuals.

You can focus on what you came to work on—not explaining who you are.

Therapist for Veterans – Support from People Who Understand

Transitioning out of the military is harder than most people realize.

The structure is gone. The mission is gone. And the people around you don't always understand what you've been through.

You might be dealing with things you've never talked about. Or you might just feel lost, disconnected, or stuck.

You might be experiencing:

  • Flashbacks, nightmares, or hypervigilance

  • Anger that's hard to control

  • Difficulty connecting with family or civilians

  • Feeling like no one understands what you went through

  • Guilt, grief, or moral injury from your service

  • Trouble finding purpose after leaving the military

Working with a veteran-informed therapist helps you:

  • Talk to someone who understands military culture

  • Process trauma, combat stress, or MST without judgment

  • Reconnect with your family and rebuild relationships

  • Find purpose and direction in civilian life

  • Learn to manage symptoms that are affecting your daily life

Many of our clients served at Fort Liberty (Bragg), Camp Lejeune, or were stationed elsewhere before settling in the Triangle.

We understand that asking for help can be difficult. But reaching out is how you take back control.

Common Questions About Individual Therapy

How do I know if I need individual therapy?

If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, relationship issues, or just feeling stuck—therapy can help. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from talking to someone.

What's the difference between individual therapy and couples or family therapy?

Individual therapy focuses on you. It's one-on-one time with a therapist to work on your own thoughts, feelings, and patterns. Couples and family therapy involve other people in the room.

Do you have therapists who specialize in men's issues?

Yes. We have therapists experienced in working with men on anger, relationship problems, stress, and the unique pressures men face.

Is your practice LGBTQ+ affirming?

Absolutely. Our therapists are trained in LGBTQ+ affirming care. Your identity will be respected and celebrated, not treated as a problem.

Do you work with veterans?

Yes. Many of our clients are veterans from across the Triangle. We understand military culture and the challenges of transitioning to civilian life.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Virtual sessions are available throughout North Carolina for those who prefer to meet online.

Where is your office?

We're at 2880 Slater Rd, Suite 100 in Morrisville—just off I-40 near Park West Village. Easy access from Cary, Raleigh, Durham, and Apex.
