Experienced Therapists Serving Durham, NC

Durham is a city of thinkers, doers, and people who care deeply about their work and their families. But caring deeply can also mean carrying a lot.

Many of our clients are part of Durham’s academic, medical, and research communities—balancing high expectations, demanding schedules, and the pressure to keep moving forward even when something feels off.

At Morrisville Counseling & Consulting, we work with individuals, couples, and families across Durham who are dealing with anxiety, burnout, trauma, and relationship stress.

We also offer telehealth for those who prefer to meet from home.

Where is your office located?

Our office is located at 2880 Slater Rd, Suite 100, Morrisville, NC 2756, and is easily accessible to clients in Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Apex, and Morrisville areas.

Do you offer telehealth?

Morrisville Counseling offers distance counseling to clients via a HIPPA-approved video conferencing system. This is a great way to make therapy accessible to all. *Telehealth is not covered by all insurance companies or particular plans.

How long does therapy take?

It depends on your goals. Some clients come for a few months to work through a specific issue. Others stay longer for deeper work. We'll check in regularly to make sure therapy is helping.

What should I expect in the first session?

Your first session is about getting to know each other. Your therapist will ask about what's bringing you in, your history, and your goals. There's no pressure to share everything at once—we go at your pace.

What is the difference between a therapist and counselor?

There is some overlap between the terms "counselor" and "therapist." They are both used to refer to mental health professionals who offer counseling or therapy. However, in specific terms, “counselor” and “therapist” refer to two separate categories of mental health professionals. Some of their skills and interests may be similar, but their training and licensing are not the same. When comparing the two for your personal mental health therapy, the most significant distinction to consider is finding a therapist who offers techniques that are tailored to your specific requirements. Our team at Morrisville Counseling has training and expertise in a wide variety of counseling and therapy techniques.

What are the benefits of counseling?

Counseling can provide many benefits. Talking to a therapist can help you feel better. You can talk about things that are making you unhappy. The therapist will help you understand how these things are making your life difficult and will give you strategies to deal with the problems.

It can help you:

- Identify and change negative thinking and behavior patterns

- Develop healthy coping skills

- Improve communication skills

- Resolve conflict in relationships

- Heal from past trauma

- Increase self-esteem and confidence

- Manage stress and anxiety
